ST SCHOLARSHIP:-
ST Scholarship is provided to the students of the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. The main objective of this ST scholarship is to provide monetary assistance to these category students to complete their education at school and college levels, to those who are unable to financially support their higher education due to low income and poor family conditions. Some of the popular ST scholarships are the Pre-matric Scholarship, Post-matric Scholarship, Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship, and Overseas Scholarship.
The ST scholarship is a centrally-funded scholarship scheme and is implemented by the state governments. The students who fulfill the eligibility criteria can apply for this scholarship but it is only restricted to the ST category students. The awards are fully funded by the central govt. The applicants can apply online through the national scholarship portal.
These are merit cum means based scholarships and it aims to uplift the ST category students and allow them to take up higher education after class 12 and pursue their dream career without worrying about any financial burden. Under this ST Scholarship scheme, a total of 1,000 scholarships and 750 fellowships are awarded to selected category students each year. The scholarship amount ranges from Rs 500 to Rs 28000 for various categories.
