What is PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana? The PM Surya Ghar scheme was launched on 29th February 2024 to empower Indian households to generate their own electricity. The government has set a budget of Rs 75,021 crore for this scheme, which will run until 2027. The goal is simple: increase rooftop solar capacity across the country.
PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana 2026 How the Scheme Works
The scheme is managed by National and State agencies. Your local electricity department (DISCOM) will handle the practical side—like installing net meters, inspecting your roof, and managing the vendors who install the panels.
How Much Money Will You Get? (Subsidy List 2026): PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana
The calculation for 2026 is very simple. The money you get depends entirely on how big a system you install on your rooftop:
- 1 kW System: You will get ₹30,000 subsidy.
- 2 kW System: You get ₹60,000 subsidy. (This is the most popular choice).
- 3 kW and above: For big houses, you get the maximum ₹78,000 subsidy.
My Personal Recommendation: In my opinion, if you have a standard home with 2 to 3 rooms, a refrigerator, and a TV, you should go for the 2 kW system. It covers almost all your daily needs, and the ₹60,000 subsidy covers a huge chunk of the installation cost!
